Responsibilities

The Digital Press Operator is responsible for day-to-day preparation, operation, and maintenance of all digital printing presses. Producing and completing all digital presswork in compliance with job specifications, quality standards, and time requirements. 

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

General and Administrative

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor that reflects CBPS and the client’s commitment to quality, continuous improvement and respect for individuals.
  • Monitor project schedule/board for job status and priority.
  • Communicate effectively with the Prepress Lead and Print Production Manager informing and providing updates regularly to guarantee that overall production and customer objectives are met.
  • Complete all required volume, workflow, and quality control tracking logs.
  • Meet all goals assigned by Print Production Manager.

Operations

  • Operate iGEN and Canon digital printing press to produce customer jobs.
  • Interface with the Prepress department to receive color match approval prior to printing jobs.
  • Monitor quality of all digital presswork.
  • Participate in daily/weekly production and safety meetings.
  • Coordinate with production team to produce and prioritize jobs, when necessary reorganize to meet deadline changes and updates.
  • Follow all required safety procedures.
  • Ensure the completion of all duties with a minimum of waste.
  • Operate bindery equipment as needed.

Equipment and Supplies

  • Ensure preventative maintenance compliance for all Printing Press equipment.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work area.
  • Preform basic trouble shooting as required.
  • Monitor, inventory, and stock all press supplies.
  • Inform the Print Production Manager of equipment problems.

 

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with experience or vocational/technical certification.

  • Minimum of 2 years of digital or offset printing experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of press maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Working knowledge of digital printing, prepress, preflight, and workflow industry standards.
  • Ability to perform and assist other production functions when necessary.

Working Conditions

  • Standing for prolonged periods of time - up to 8 hours or more per day.
  • Frequent lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
  • Fast-paced environment, subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
