Overview

Responsible for the management of the warehouse/materials distribution department during shift while ensuring a safe, secure, organized and efficient operation. In collaboration with multiple support departments, the supervisor is responsible for ensuring and maintaining an environment that provides for the efficient and effective flow of their respective departments.

 

Must be willing to work flexible hours if needed, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

Responsible for Warehouse/Materials Distribution Department

  • Maintains day-to-day communications with department supervisors and managers. Initiates communication and problem solving with regard to customer concerns
  • Assists in recruiting new employees, administration of HR policies and procedures including safety, performance evaluations, employee training & development.
  • Train new hires & existing employees on all warehouse functions, including the enforcement of safety procedures in accordance with company policies & procedures
  • Keeps management informed of all operational issues
  • Prioritize, schedule and delegates assignments to staff and monitors progress
  • Ensure quality and productivity standards are being met by staff
  • Ensure proper maintenance and usage of all equipment and supplies
  • Compiles weekly and monthly statistical data to be used by Manager for reporting
  • Assists with staff payroll
  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by implementing and monitoring security
  • Ensures all laws and regulations are followed and employees have current necessary and required safety training for warehouse material handling, shipping and transportation
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

 

May perform any of the following functions

  • Prepare manifests for departing Review and sign off on all outgoing manifests and equipment departing.
  • Monitor & oversee the time-sensitive and accurate sequencing, picking, shipping & or receiving of all merchandise & materials, including ensuring the quality of all inbound & outbound products.
  • Responsible for development/monitoring of KPI's & implementing continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Communicates with manager, customer and suppliers concerning load & material issues & status, serving as liaison to communicate load, plant, routing issues or concerns between employees at facility & customer & or supplier.
  • Receives items within CBPS’s receiving procedures and shipping procedures
  • Performs material receiving accuracy check.
  • Maintains inventory controls by collecting stock location orders, printing requests, recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed through a May also assist in counting of physical inventory.
  • Maintain a safe and clean warehouse environment.

Qualifications

 

  • High school Diploma or equivalent with some college preferred     
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience working in a warehouse or distribution related
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience within a warehouse or distribution related
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel creating charts, reports, and spreadsheet
  • Experience using SAP within a WMS
  • Requires knowledge of materials distribution and/or logistics processes, methods, and skills related to inventory
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP/WMS is required.Strong background in problem solving in a dynamic team environment
  • Strong background within an ERP or WMS
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ensure that personal behaviors/work practices are a role model to all and in line with CBPS safety standard.
  • Have thorough knowledge of site fire and emergency
  • Participate in all safety drills, meetings, fire and boat drills and safety training
  • Contribute to and support safety tool box meetings
  • Participate in multiple reviews of results from operating tests or changes in work procedures to ensure there isn’t any negative impact to work
  • Lead and closely monitor “housekeeping,” double- checks and takes additional safety precautions to ensure no-one is put at risk by own work and the work of
  • Take no short cuts and encourages other team members to take care not to put others at
  • Participate in safety initiatives/committees where appropriate.
  • Wear the proper safety equipment and ensure all staff do the same.

 

         

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physical activity required including bending, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting and prolonged periods of sitting or standing
  • May lift and/or move up to 40 lbs
